Talk of financial boost at Everton played down

Rumours have again surfaced that Alisher Usmanov is looking to invest in the club and they have again been played down.

After leaving Arsenal this summer as Stan Kroenke took over, many of us thought that he would look to increase his interest in us.

He’s already involved with Finch Farm but we’re of course hoping that he becomes a significant stakeholder with plenty of finance coming in.

However, that looks as though it’s not exactly imminent with Jim White saying there is no chance of it happening after a discussion with Bill Kenwright.

Indeed Kenwright said on Talksport via the Echo:

“I don’t have to tell you the commitment [Farhad Moshiri] has given to Everton in time and in finance.

“He’s put hundreds of millions into the club. He wanted the extra shareholding with the new stadium coming up and I think it’ll help with further finance in the club.

“He knows the club, he loves the club and he wanted to cement his position.”

Clearly, it is probably best that we forget Usmanov for now but it is of course hard when we see he is available to invest and knows Farhad Moshiri.

Maybe down the line we’ll see something come about but for the moment we should focus on those already in charge.
