Powerful, very true and simple. Not like some of these pathetic Liverpool flags with peoples life stories on them they are so long.
Maybe some may disagree, and thats fine, but I’d hazard a guess that in a Liverpool school, whilst the majority will probably support the Reds because they are the most succesful team, to which I assume that most choose them because of this because its easier for them to do it that way if there not that enthuastic about football. However I reckon the real football enthusiasts, who go the match, would be the minority in the class – maybe about 5 out of 28 – THE EVERTONIANS.
The above paragraph has just touched on a saying by the late and great Brian Labone. He simply said ‘One Evertonian is worth 20 Liverpudlians‘
I’d agree (obviously) with Brian, because i’d say that although in the minority more Evertonians at least from the liverpol area go the match than Liverpudlians do. I have no evidence to support this I admit, just past encounters and stories even from people like my Dad who is a Liverpool fan in Athens as I write this.All my mates, mostly Everton fans- are either like myself and go every game home and away including abroad, or a few like Dominic off this site have season tickets.
Finally may I end this article with my best wishes to Liverpool fans in Athens that they have a good time and return home safely.Above all else, if God has decreed that you are to win, then to lessen the disgusting bitterness manifested between the two sets of supports over the years, PLEASE PLEASE Win in normal time and not on penalties, because I don’t want any arguments!!!
