Football on a Monday night, I’m sure it makes sense in some countries. The Premier League fixture list, well, the television companies who must be obeyed, decided that Everton would host manager Marco Silva’s former club Watford at Goodison Park yesterday evening.

It was a mixed encounter on home soil, we had possession and the greater chances on target, but they managed more efforts overall – corners and fouls were identical. Richarlison made his own point against his former club as he opened the scoring 15 minutes in, but second half it all changed and Watford rallied, drawing level with a Seamus Coleman credited own goal and then they took advantage – a Lucas Digne effort six minutes into stoppage-time saved the point, and it was the least we deserved.

Statistics website Whoscored gave our left back their star man award for his individual showing and he polled 8.40.

Completing the top five on the day from the 2-2 draw were Yerry Mina (7.47), Andre Gomes (7.22), Richarlison (6.84) and Michael Keane (6.81).

Silva would’ve no doubt preferred the win and all three points, but it keeps us ticking over in 2018/19.
