Striker expected to arrive in the UK soon to complete Everton move

|

Former Marseille and West Ham striker, Andre Ayew is expected to land in the UK within the next 24 hours to finalise his move back to the Premier League with Everton, according to recent reports

Despite losing Anthony Gordon to Newcastle United with less than a week remaining in the January transfer window and having a month to find players to bolster their squad ready for their upcoming relegation battle, Everton failed to sign a single player during the window.

This came as a surprise to many Evertonians after new manager, Sean Dyche was reportedly promised 2 or 3 signings before deadline day and Farhad Moshiri promised that the club would sign a striker in his interview with the Fan Advisory Board (FAB).

However, the Everton board could still complete the signing of a striker even after the transfer deadline, with free-agent signings not being bound by the restrictions of transfer windows or any specific period as they do not include transfer fees [via Football Handbook]

According to Sami Mokbel, Ghanaian striker, Andre Ayew is expected to land in the UK within the next 24 hours to finalise a move back to the Premier League. The 33-year-old was in advanced talks with Everton for a move to Goodison Park [via Lequipe], however, Nottingham Forest reportedly also hold an interest in acquiring his signature.

During his spells in the Premier League with Swansea City and West Ham, Ayew scored 21 goals and grabbed 9 assists in 89 appearances.

After an unsuccessful loan move to Turkey with Fenerbahce, he returned to Swansea in the Championship where he scored 35 goals in 94 appearances, helping the Swans to Play-off football on both occasions.

Although Ayew has Premier League experience and may score a few goals whilst at Everton, there has recently been a lot of cries for Sean Dyche to put more faith in the academy set up rather than sign journeymen looking for a final paycheck.
