Spurs to make Osman approach

Only yesterday we were trying to contemplate why talks between Everton and Leon Osman had stalled, is it because Tottenham are interested in the midfielder?

Talks between Everton and Leon Osman over a new 12-month extension have failed to develop.

We had wondered whether it was the uncertainty over gaffer David Moyes’s own future at Goodison Park which had meant that there had been limited progress in regards to Osman’s deal.

We certainly wouldn’t consider age to be a factor, yes Osman is 31-years-old, but he’s only just broken into the England squad, showing that if anything he’s actually getting better with age. Plus we’ve never shirked away from offering Phil Jagielka and Sylvain Distin new deals.

So what is causing the issue?

Is it now that Osman has broken into the England team perhaps his own demands have increased in what could be one of his last contracts of his career? Or has another club shown an interest?

The Metro certainly believe the latter to be the case with Tottenham Hotspur set to make a summer move for Osman.

They have reported that with Osman currently holding a two-year contract at Goodison Park that they would spend £6million taking him to White Hart Lane.

Andre Villas-Boas apparently sees Osman has the perfect replacement for Joao Moutinho who Spurs already missed out on.
