Schalke 04 Sporting Director Jochen Schneider has admitted that he wants to sign Jonjoe Kenny on a permanent deal next summer. The 22-year-old joined Schalke on a season-long loan and has impressed two months into the season.

He told Sport Bild (h/t Buli News): “We’re happy to have him. He fits well in at Schalke, not only as a player, but also as a person. I hope that we have a chance of keeping him for longer.”

Kenny has made 11 appearances in all competitions, playing nearly every minute of every game for the German outfit so far – 986 minutes from a possible 990.

As per WhoScored, the England u21 international has scored and created three goals in nine Bundesliga games, making nine chances, boasting a 75% dribble success rate, whipping in 23 crosses, blocking 16 shots/crosses/passes, making 17 clearances while averaging a tackle (15) or interception (7) every 36 minutes.

Schalke may want to keep Kenny at the Veltins-Arena, but Everton aren’t likely to let him go. Marco Silva needs a long-term replacement for Seamus Coleman and already have him on the books. Djibril Sidibe has ousted Coleman from the starting eleven, but he’ll return to parent club AS Monaco in June 2020.

If Kenny can continue his form over the course of the season, he stands a chance of permanently replacing Coleman in 2020/21.
