Sorensen Praises Everton Boss

Everton forward Nicoline Sorensen has revealed that coach Brian Sorensen has made a lot of changes at the club, since his appointment last summer.

After consecutive sackings of Willie Kirk and his successor Jean Luc-Vasseur, Sorensen was brought in to replace interim coach Chris Roberts in the summer after a turbulent period at Walton Hall Park.

A 10th-place finish in the WSL was followed by an enormous overhaul of both the squad and backroom staff, with 9 outgoing players replaced by 10 new faces.

This revamp appears to have revived Everton’s fortunes, and Danish international Nicoline Sorensen believes that her namesake in the dugout has laid the foundations for the club’s renaissance.

The forward said,I think he has changed quite a lot in terms of things for the better. We’ve started now to have a foundation and a basic structure that we will be identified as and that is so important for a team.

“That is where we are now and it’s a process that takes take, but we feel our foundation is close to where we want to be and we can build it from there. It’s been a really good few months for us.”

“Of course, we always want to win and we haven’t won every single game but we’re definitely getting closer and it’s a journey. We need to accept it takes a bit of time as well before the big result will come.”

The 25-year-old forward missed 14 months of action with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, but recently made her return earlier this month in the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal.

Indeed, Sorensen’s return to fitness will provide a huge boost going into the New Year, and provided that the Dane’s injury woes are behind her, she could play an integral role when the WSL resumes next month.
