It was being reported yesterday that Chelsea were targeting both Everton stopper Jordan Pickford and Stoke City’s Jack Butland as a possible replacement for Thibaut Courtois should speculation surrounding his future, and links to Real Madrid, come to pass.
Sky Sports ran one of their ‘understands’ pieces and to be fair there was very little concrete information in it other than mildly sensible educated guesses.
They even linked a report they did earlier in the week that said Leicester City’s Kasper Schmeichel was another potential target, so presumably, it was just Pickford’s turn to have his name drawn out of the hat as they looked to boost content numbers.
It wouldn’t be the first time unnamed sources are leant on during the transfer window to feed the rumour mill and create content, would it.
Having signed him from Sunderland for £30million, his performances for England and the way his stock has grown sees figures like £50million thrown around for the 24-year-old – and equally, our reported outlay (overall) on Watford’s Richarlison comes into the report as a means of balancing the books.
I wouldn’t be overly panicking yet.
If this happens it’s just game over would actually be the worst thing to happen all season. Terrible terrible club if we sell him

Just get lost and leave him alone

If we spin Pickford this summer I'm done. Simple ????

If we sell Pickford that’s it I’m done!

Big test for Mr Moshiri with Pickford. We are watching #EFC

Everton should make a statement regarding Pickford in my opinion. Just put the whole thing to bed now before it gets out of hand. First time this summer I’ve been worried about us tbh. We can’t sell him we just can’t #EFC

Can’t do that mate. If we release a statement regarding ‘sky sources’ it’ll just bring more attention & drama.

I was thinking that

There’s no way we’re selling him this summer mate. Way to late in window to get a replacement .

If Allison was £66m Pickford would be £70m+

If we sell Pickford two weeks till the season starts then it's more of a complete shambles than it already is
