Tim Howard made his 414th and final appearances for Everton on Sunday.

The United States international kept a clean sheet during his final game for Everton, helping the side to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Norwich City in Everton’s first game since the sacking of Roberto Martinez.

With Howard leaving England and the Premier League for the United States of America’s Major Soccer League, Howard will not get to play under whoever is named as Martinez’s successor.

But the Colorado Rapids new goaltender believes whoever it is, will be inheriting a great squad.

‘The guy who comes in and manages this team is sitting on a goldmine,’ Howard told Sky Sports.

The game also saw Kieran Dowell, Tom Davies and Jonjoe Kenny play the majority of the game to showcase the talent we have in the youth set-up.

He continued: ‘The future is bright. Those boys played well. I didn’t have that kind of wherewithal or talent at their age so I was excited to see them play.

‘With the passion in this city for this club and the talent that’s on display, the sky’s the limit for this team.’

On his departure from Everton he added: ‘My words would fail me because what I feel in my heart for all Evertonians is hard to describe. I’ll miss their cheers, I’ll miss their faces.

‘All good things come to an end. I know that. I think I was always dreading the day I had to leave this place because I keep saying it’s my home.’
