Last weekend saw a pretty comprehensive defeat for Everton at the hands of Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium and next weekend’s clash against high flying Tottenham Hotspur won’t be much easier.

On paper though, it is a game we are more likely to get something from as Pep Guardiola’s side are, unfortunately, just one of those sides.

As we look forward to manager Marco Silva pitting his wits against Mauricio Pochettino at Goodison Park, according to Phsioroom the only doubt we have for next weekend is midfielder Idrissa Gueye.

The 29-year-old last featured for us in the clash against Watford a week last Monday and with just under 20 minutes to play, he was replaced by second-half substitute Cenk Tosun. Having missed out against City, he’s given a timeframe of four more days until he recovers from his groin issue and that does take us nicely into the weekend.

I guess a late decision will be made on his involvement as there’s no point bringing him back unless we’re confident he won’t suffer a recurrence and be out for longer.
