Marco Silva has taken the bold step of saying that Cenk Tosun can go on a run of goal-scoring form now that he has bagged once more.

The striker has had a frustrating time at the head of the attack this year with Theo Walcott and Richarlison digging him out more than once.

He is back among the goals now, though, and Silva has decided that he could now well go on a run of form – we’ll have to be convinced I think.

Silva said:

“It is good for his confidence and it is really important he scored.

“I know it was difficult for him against West Ham when he had a chance and didn’t score, but this is football.

“He will get a lot of confidence. This will be good for him.”

I do like Tosun for his honest work-rate and build-up play but at the end of the day he is in the team to score goals.

If he can go on a run then I, like many, am happy to be proven wrong but I still have my doubts he is the 20+ goal a season striker we still need.

Silva’s been bold here, let’s see if he is right.
