Two main stories on the interweb stand out today.

Sky Sports reported late yesterday evening that they understood that former Hull City and Watford manager Marco Silva was set to meet with director of football Marcel Brands soon, with an eye to unveiling his appointment as Sam Allardyce’s replacement next week.

They state that several candidates remain on our radar, but Silva continues to be the standout man that Farhad Moshiri wants. It’s said he wants Silva to be in charge for the next five years as we transition to our new £500million, 55,000 seater stadium at Bramley Moore Dock with that move expected to come in the 2022/23 season.

The expectation is therefore, Silva will be handed a contract covering that length of time with stability in mind.

The other main news of note also has Sky reporting that Wayne Rooney is at DC United for a medical ahead of his speculated move.

Whilst nothing is yet confirmed, and Sky’s report is awaiting an update, speculation about his future has been rife – with only an inkling that he might stay after Allardyce departed. They report at this stage that he’s set for talks and a medical on Thursday, so fans will be watching that one with great interest.
