Silva Highlights Obvious Everton Failing After Palace Draw

|

Following on from the fantastic victory over Manchester United last weekend, Everton made the trip today to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace and the aim was to make it back to back victories to continue trying to chase down seventh spot in the Premier League table.

Manager Marco Silva’s side were clearly on top in the game, dominating both possession and chances but by the hour mark we’d only tested their goalkeeper twice, and that had been our downfall.

Palace hadn’t registered a shot on target by the hour mark either.

In the minutes that remained we only added a further shot on target to our tally so our dominance in the game (22 efforts in total, 64% possession) counted for only a point as we couldn’t find the breakthrough and we lose ground in the battle for seventh place.

Speaking to the BBC following the final whistle, Silva said of our efforts.

“No doubt we were the best team on the pitch. We deserved the three points. From the first minute, we tried everything. We had chances to score but we have to be more clinical. It’s something we keeping working to achieve. The most important thing is that we did everything. The connections between the players are coming more easily.”
