Everton have impressed under the guidance of Marco Silva but there is still plenty of work to be done and further changes within the squad could occur.

The Toffees invested heavily prior to the season, bringing in the likes of Lucas Digne, Richarlison and Bernard, which has led to uncertainty surrounding the future of some other players within Silva’s ranks.

One of those is veteran full-back Leighton Baines, with Digne shining in his position, and Silva has admitted he is unsure about the future of the 34-year-old who has just months remaining on his current deal.

Quoted by The Liverpool Echo, Silva said:

“Leighton deserves all our respect, not just because he has been playing here for many years to a high quality, but for the professional he is.

“Even when he is not playing he is always there helping. I know his behaviour, even on the bench. What the future is we will see at the right moment.”

Baines has made just four Premier League appearances this season, one of which was as a substitute.
