Should Everton break the bank for Koeman?

With new major shareholder Farhad Moshiri set to splash the cash at Goodison Park could Ronald Koeman be tempted from Southampton with a big bumper pay packet?

According to the Echo, that could help to prize the Dutchman away from Southampton, who will be playing in the UEFA Europa League next season.

Koeman is known to be Everton’s first choice target, but his representatives have thus far said to have discouraged a move as the 53-year-old is supposedly in the running to succeed Arsene Wenger at Arsenal in the next 18 months.

With such a lucrative job potentially looming in the distance, it’s hardly surprising that he, at this time, would overlook the chance of replacing Roberto Martinez.

Current standings would deem it a sideways step at best for Koeman and Everton wouldn’t want it to be a short-term appointment.

The Echo believe Everton shareholders Moshiri and Bill Kenwright could offer Koeman a package in the region of £6million-a-year to get their man.

Should Everton continue to pursue Koeman?
