“Shocker”, “Get him fit” – Lots of Everton fans react to club post on Twitter

Lots of Everton fans have been reacting on social media after the club shared that Fabian Delph had withdrawn from the England squad for November’s Euro 2020 qualifiers through injury.

Delph had arrived at St. George’s Park carrying the knock, having sat out our win over Southampton on Saturday, but it has since been decided that he would return to Finch Farm to continue his rehabilitation.

England boss Gareth Southgate had hoped that Delph would be able to play some role in his plans this international break, with the Three Lions needing one point against either Montenegro or Kosovo to book their place at next summer’s Euro 2020.

No replacement has been called up for Delph, with England hosting Montenegro on Thursday night in what will be the Three Lions’ 1,00th men’s international fixture.

Delph had been forced to withdraw from England’s last round of fixtures through injury, as well, after the 29-year-old picked up a hamstring issue in our 1-0 defeat at Burnley.

The issue further ruled Delph out of our loss at West Ham United last month, before returning to the fold for clashes with Watford and Tottenham Hotspur.

He also missed the opening three league games of the season with a thigh injury, which he suffered four minutes into his pre-season debut against Werder Bremen.

Bradford-born Delph last featured for England at this summer’s UEFA Nations League Finals, earning his 20th cap against Switzerland in the Third Place Play-Off win over Switzerland.
