First team coaches Craig Shakespeare and Duncan Ferguson will be in charge for tonight’s Europa League clash between Apollon Limassol and Everton.

With Sam Allardyce having been appointed at the end of November, taking charge of his first game and picking up his first win over Huddersfield Town, he will miss tonight’s game owing to a pre arranged medical appointment.

No doubt he’ll pick the team and set the game plan, and Shakespeare and Ferguson will carry out his instructions with us on our travels.

The BBC quote Shakespeare as saying.

‘Sam will be back at the training ground on Thursday and Friday. He had a prior medical arrangement and he had to keep to that. It’s nothing too serious. I will speak to Sam tomorrow about how we will communicate during the game, see what he wants to do and get some clarity on that.’

With four defeats in five group games so far, another win would be a definite boost going into the Merseyside against Liverpool this weekend but I would imagine there will be a fair bit of rotation with us being ten points off the top two.
