According to The Mirror, Everton striker, Salomon Rondon looks set to be leaving the toffees, with a move to UAE club Sharjah FC his most likely destination. [via The Mirror]

The Venezuelan international has been linked with moves away from the club all window, but all deals failed to materialise. However, a deal now looks close to completion. With the transfer window in the UAE not closing until Tuesday 4th October, Sharjah FC will be looking to capitalise.

Rondon joined the Merseyside outfit in 2021, under then manager, Rafa Benitez, whom he knows well from the time they spent together at Newcastle during his successful loan move in 2018. He joined the club after a spell in China with Dalian Professional FC, scoring 14 goals in 28 matches.

Before joining Everton, Rondon had already played for two other Premier Clubs, being Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion, scoring an impressive 40 goals across 4 campaigns, a statistic that seems much more impressive considering his scoring tally for the blues. He scored 3 goals in total in his time at Everton, with two of which coming in the FA Cup 5th round against Boreham Wood, and the other in a 3-1 loss at Selhurst Park in the league.

With Rondon’s time at Everton only able to be described as underwhelming at best, Frank Lampard and Kevin Thelwell will be trying to pull a few strings to get this deal over the line before Tuesday, especially with the likes of Neal Maupey joining in the transfer window and Dominic Calvert-Lewin nearing a return from injury. It can only be imagined that Lampard and his staff see the striker as 3rd choice and thus surplus to requirements in the current squad.

Despite having 6 pro-league titles, Sharjah FC have only won 1 league title since 1996, however, they do currently sit top of the Pro-League, having won all of their first 4 games this season. They have already had quite a busy transfer window to this point, signing multiple big names from around Europe, such as Miralem Pjanic from Barcelona, Paco Alcacer from Villareal and former Napoli defender Konstantinos Manolas.

The current Pro-League leaders signed former Everton winger, Bernard during last season’s transfer window, before the Brazilian joined Greek club Panathinaikos on a free transfer this summer.

Would Salomon Rondon be missed at EFC or would a move away be in the best interest of the club?
