A few Everton fans have been sharing their disagreement with the Liverpool Echo’s Phil Kirkbride, after he claimed that Carlo Ancelotti is not the new head coach we need.
Ancelotti has been linked with the vacant Goodison Park position after being sacked by SSC Napoli, who parted company with the Italian less than three hours after he guided the San Paolo natives into the Last 16 of the Champions League.
Everton are keen on appointing the three-times Champions League winner as Marco Silva’s successor, if Ancelotti is available with Arsenal also in the frame, and is thought to be the top candidate for the role after Vitor Pereira withdrew from contention after receiving a new contract offer from Shanghai SIPG.
Kirkbride, however, has suggested that the club would be barking up the wrong tree by pursuing the former Chelsea boss, as Ancelotti would be arriving at Goodison Park at a time Director of Football Marcel Brands is setting about reducing the wage bill.
Is Ancelotti the right man to replace Silva?
No, keep searching
No, appoint Ferguson
He also states that Ancelotti has not been successful at a club of our stature before, with his trophies secured at some of Europe’s leading outfits like Real Madrid, AC Milan, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain – each of whom have vast resources.
The Echo reporter also questions if Ancelotti would be able to nurture some of our emerging talents rather than work with those at the peak of their powers.
Here are some of the messages shared as fans reacted to Kirkbride’s claims…
Disagree, you aim for the best & Ancelotti is up there so we have to do everything to get him here & maybe have Duncan working alongside him so he understands the feeling of the club

Usually think your spot on @philkecho, but have to massively disagree with this. You don’t pass up on a Ferrari because your garage is too small.

He’s just what we need , next level not an up and coming or a manager that’s won nothing .

Yeah god forbid Everton want a proven – an actual proven – winning manager 🙄
Pair the man with Dunc as his assistant, and watch a perfect union be EXACTLY what Everton needs right now.

What rubbish. He is exactly what @Everton need. His teams are very organised, that’s what Everton need, once that is sorted he is a top manager who can attract the players who can take us to the next level. Everton want to be big, this is opportunity to act it, Carlo is the man.
