Having returned from injury, Everton left-back Leighton Baines has said he’s ready to ‘get his teeth’ into the remaining games of the season as he’s hungry for more pitch time this season following his spell on the sidelines.

Having made his comeback in the two nil victory over Brighton last Saturday, it was his first appearance since the end of November having picked up a calf problem in the game at Southampton and speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media to discuss his comeback, he explained that thankfully he felt no ill effects following his 90 minutes.

‘I had no problems. It was a great game to come back into and get a bit of extra fitness. You cannot get that anywhere else. You are never sure when you come back in – until you get into a proper game – what your fitness levels will be like. But I felt quite comfortable. I had the experience to look after myself and when the onus is on us to go and win the game – we have so many attacking players in the team – to assess those moments when we are going forward and I can potentially join in. I am pleased to be back and looking forward to getting my teeth into the tail end of the season.’

With eight games remaining in the 2017/18 campaign, Baines also spoke of his delight at the performance of Cenk Tosun following his recent improvements after his arrival at the club.
