According to Phil Kirkbride of the Liverpool Echo, Joe Williams could be on his way out of Everton this summer. The 22-year-old has one year left on his contract at Goodison Park and has an uncertain future after struggling for fitness and playing time.

Williams has been the subject of bids from sides in the German Bundesliga and English Championship and may be granted a departure from Everton after failing to make a single first-team appearance. The midfielder has made the matchday squad on six occasions but has played exclusively for the u23s.

As a result, he’s embarked upon loan moves to Barnsley (July 20, 2017 – May 31, 2018) and Bolton Wanderers (August 23, 2018 – May 31, 2019) to get first-team football, but a permanent departure looks on the cards – Williams will be a free agent in 2020 and doesn’t look likely to sign a new deal.

With Andre Gomes, Tom Davies, Idrissa Gueye and Morgan Schneiderlin for competition in midfield, he never stood a chance at Everton. The report doesn’t say which clubs are keen on his signature, but the youngster won’t be short of interest given he’s made 64 Championship appearances.

  • Please do NOT sell this player. He is the future as he is only 22 and is a much better player than Tom Davies. He is a tough tackling player and a good back up to Idrissa Gueye should he get injured or even leave the club.
