Report: Young midfielder ‘veering towards exiting’ Everton for £1m

|

According to Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider, Joe Williams is ‘veering towards exiting’ Everton for £1m this summer. The young midfielder has been the subject of bids from the German Bundesliga and English Championship and should be granted a departure by Everton.

Williams hasn’t made a first-team appearance for the Toffees, so it’s unlikely they would stand in his way of a transfer. The 22-year-old hasn’t progressed to the level required to represent the senior squad and could consider a move to a side willing to give him opportunities.

Football Insider revealed that Bristol City, Birmingham City and Hull City were keen on his signature in 2018, but it’s unknown if the Championship trio are among the interested party this summer. The German clubs keen on Williams haven’t been mentioned in the report either.

Nevertheless, the future looks bright for the Englishman. He’s made 64 appearances in the Championship which should convince suitors that he’s at least capable of playing in the second tier. Williams has made the matchday squad half a dozen times at Everton, but he’s not managed to get on the pitch and may not make his senior debut now.
