Yannick Bolasie has spent the season on loan at Sporting, but the Primeira Liga side aren’t going to sign him permanently this summer. Sporting were said to be leaning towards another loan move for Bolasie, but Record (h/t Sport Witness) say they can’t afford to retain his services at all.

The 30-year-old is eating up €2m-a-year (£1.74m-a-year) on the wage bill and has a €4m (£3.48m) release clause, but Sporting have a tight budget for next season and can’t afford to keep Bolasie in 2020.

Should Everton recall Yannick Bolasie to the first-team?

The fact Bolasie has failed to score in the league since December 2019 and has only one assist since the turn of the year may have also influenced their decision. The DR Congo international has contributed seven goals in 25 appearances, but he’s not been consistent enough to warrant a permanent stay.

As a result, Bolasie will return to Everton for the final year of his contract and is likely to be made available for sale this summer. His last appearance for the Toffees came in May 2018, so it’s hard to see the wide-man playing at Goodison Park again while Bernard, Theo Walcott, Alex Iwobi and Richarlison are in the squad.
