Report: Transfer blow for Everton as Juventus close in on right-winger

|

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport (h/t Sport Witness), Everton could miss out on Dejan Kulusevski as Juventus are closing in on the 19-year-old’s signature.

Kulusevski is on loan at Parma this season and has been in fine form in Serie A, scoring and creating 11 goals in 17 appearances. The Swedish international will return to parent club Atalanta next summer, but his stint at the Ennio Tardini Stadium could be cut short if he signs for Juventus.

The Old Lady are closing in on a deal worth £29.7m + £7.6m in bonuses, but Everton are trying to stop it. The Toffees have been short of goals this season, scoring only 23 times in 20 Premier League games, so the January transfer window is an opportunity to strengthen a key area.

Kulusevski has lit up the Serie A (four goals, seven assists) and would be a stark improvement on Theo Walcott (0 goals, two assists), Alex Iwobi (two goals, one assist) and Bernard (two goals, one assist), as per Transfermarkt.

Unfortunately, it appears Everton won’t get their man in January and will have to turn their attentions elsewhere.

Where do we need to strengthen in January?
