Report: Striker ‘will also leave’ Everton in 2021

|

Luke Garbutt is expected to depart Everton this summer, and the Liverpool Echo say Shani Tarashaj ‘will also leave’ Everton at the end of his contract. The 25-year-old has struggled for playing time at Goodison Park and has been deemed surplus to requirements.

Tarashaj joined Everton from Grasshopper Club Zurich in 2016 and has only made two appearances for the u23s. He’s yet to turn out for the first-team and has spent four of the last five seasons out on loan.

Should the football season be cut short now or delayed for weeks/months due to COVID-19?

Delay for weeks/months

End the season now

As per Transfermarkt, the Swiss international made 15 appearances for Grasshoppers (January 8, 2016 – June 30, 2016), 15 appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt (August 31, 2016 – June 30, 2017), nine appearances for Grasshoppers again (July 19, 2018 – June 30, 2019), but he’s yet to feature for FC Emmen (July 14, 2019 – present) due to  ‘influenza’ and ‘private circumstances’.

Tarashaj’s stint with the Eredivisie outfit is meant to run until 2021, but he’s spent the majority of his time on the treatment table and wasn’t introduced from the bench when he did make the matchday squad. The Liverpool Echo aren’t expecting the striker to sign a new deal at Everton, so he could be a free agent next year.

The Toffees spent £3.6m four years ago and agreed a £15k-per-week/£780k-a-year deal with Tarashaj, so he’s set the Merseysiders back around £6.7m without making an appearance.
