Report: Striker could leave Everton

|

According to Aksam, Medipol Başakşehir are interested in Cenk Tosun and could make a move for the Everton striker in January. Tosun was expected to leave over the summer after falling down the pecking order under Marco Silva, but he was public in his desire to stay and has worked hard to remain in the first-team.

The report says Başakşehir could make a move for the 28-year-old if he’s struggling for playing time in the coming months. Tosun has yet to play a single minute of Premier League football this season and has been an unused substitute in three of Everton’s four league games. His only appearance came in the EFL against Lincoln City (August 28).

With Moise Kean and Dominic Calvert-Lewin for competition up front, playing time might be hard to come by for Tosun. The Turkish international has scored only nine goals in 44 appearances since joining Everton from Besiktas in 2018, two of which have come in 2019.

Tosun recently shone for the national team, scoring and creating three goals in a 4-0 win over Moldova (September 10), but whether Silva will give him the nod remains to be seen. Başakşehir may be on red alert if he remains on the periphery.
