Tom Davies ‘looks set to start’ against Southampton on Saturday afternoon, reports Sky Sports News. The 21-year-old impressed against Tottenham Hotspur last Sunday and is likely to keep his place. Everton’s recent injury crisis means Marco Silva doesn’t have many other available options in midfield either.
Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Andre Gomes are long-term absentees for the Toffees and aren’t expected to return before 2020. Fabian Delph picked up a knock on Sunday and missed training on Tuesday as a result of his minor injury. He may not be 100% ahead of the weekend meeting with Southampton, so Silva may have to rely on Silva, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Morgan Schneiderlin.
Davies has made six appearances in all competitions this season, racking up 373 minutes of playing time. The England u21 international spent the first two months of the campaign as an unused substitute, but he’s been a regular in recent weeks and is flourishing. Supporters praised Davies’ performance against Tottenham, so it’s hard to see him missing out on Gameweek 12.
Who should replace Andre Gomes in midfield?
Morgan Schneiderlin
Beni Baningime
Gylfi Sigurdsson
Everton are 17th in the Premier League with 11 points from as many games, coming off the back of one win and one draw from their last three.
