According to Phil Kirkbridge of the Liverpool Echo, Marco Silva could send Fraser Hornby out on loan this summer. Clubs in the Championship are said to have ‘made enquiries’ and the 19-year-old has interest from League One sides such as Blackpool too.

Hornby is currently with the first-team squad for their pre-season training camp in Switzerland, so his future won’t be resolved until he returns. If the striker can impress Silva, he might be kept in the senior squad or handed a loan move to further his development.

The Scotland u21 international rose through the youth ranks to the Everton first-team in 2017, making his debut in the Europa League against Apollon Limassol on December 7, 2017. As per Transfermarkt, Hornby has made 20 appearances for the u18s (16 goals, three assists) and 31 for the u23s (eight goals, three assists).

With so much competition for a starting place in the Everton first-team, it’s likely that Hornby will be loaned out this summer. The Toffees have been sending their young talent to Football League clubs to develop at a level where they can get regular action –  Joao Virginia to Reading, Kieran Dowell to Derby County. Hornby could be next.
