Report: Everton youngster ‘set to seal’ loan move away

According to Phil Kirkbride of the Liverpool Echo, Morgan Feeney is ‘set to seal’ a loan move to Tranmere Rovers. The 20-year-old has been short of playing time in the first-team and will embark upon the first loan of his career to get competitive football.

Since being promoted from the u18s to the u23s, Feeney has gone on to make 68 appearances for the reserves, scoring and creating six goals. The centre-back finds himself behind Michael Keane, Yerry Mina and Mason Holgate in the pecking order and is out of contract in July.

His long-term future is uncertain, but the Liverpool Echo say contract talks could be held when his loan move ends at Tranmere. Feeney is highly-rated at Everton and helped the u23s win the Premier League 2 title last season, but he’s still only being sent to a relegation-threatened League One side.

Tranmere currently sit 21st in the table with 22 points from 25 games, having failed to win their last five while conceding 45 goals this season – the fourth-worst defensive record in the division. Feeney may have his work cut out at Prenton Park.
