Report: Everton would have to pay £83m to beat Man Utd to £40k-per-week striker

According to Sam McEvoy of the Daily Mail, Manchester United are interested in Moussa Dembele and could make a move for the £40k-per-week centre-forward this summer.

If that wasn’t already bad news for Everton, Jean-Michael Aulas’ valuation of Dembele will be a crushing blow. Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports previously said Olympique Lyonnais want £83m for his signature, so it’s hard to see the Toffees making a move.

Dembele has spent 18 months at Lyon after his £19.7m move from Celtic and has gone on to score and create 53 goals in 84 appearances. The 23-year-old has scored 14 goals in 25 Ligue 1 appearances this season and finds himself linked with a number of European clubs.

Whether Everton are really looking to strengthen their frontline remains to be seen, however, as Carlo Ancelotti currently has Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and Moise Kean.

Dembele first made a name for himself after scoring and creating 69 goals in 94 goals for Celtic (2016 – 2018) and his consistency in France has convinced clubs he’s the real deal. Whether he’s worth £83m remains to be seen, however.
