Despite RMC Sport recently suggesting that Everton were lining up a £31.3m bid for Malcom, it appears they’re not in the running for the 22-year-old. Adam Jones of the Liverpool Echo says that Everton are looking at other targets to strengthen their attack. This may be due to his poor form in the last 12 months.

Malcom joined Barca from Girondins Bordeaux in July 2018 and has gone on to make 24 appearances in all competitions, scoring and creating six goals. In La Liga, the £80k-per-week man racked up only 608 minutes of football and scored just once. He’s expected to be sold or loaned out this summer, but Everton may not be a potential destination.

Marcel Brands wants young players with potential at Goodison Park. Malcom would have fit the bill for Everton before he joined Barcelona, but the Toffees may consider it a risk returning for the forward given his woeful form in Spain. Ajax winger David Neres has been linked with a move, but there is stiff competition from numerous European giants for his signature.

Everton need depth in attack as Ademola Lookman and Theo Walcott may have uncertain futures after struggling for form and playing time in 2018/19.

  • Poor journalism yet again. If you work off the premise that this article does, we would have steered well clear of two recently acquired players, namely Gomes and Digne. That’s where sticking to that idea gets you! You look at the whole player and the background before making a decision, something that this journalist obviously feels is not necessary.
