According to the Guardian, Everton want to ‘extend the loan’ of Djibril Sidibe until the end of the revised season and are ‘awaiting confirmation’ from AS Monaco whether they’ll be allowed to do so.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

The Premier League campaign will resume after a three-month postponement and Everton will face Liverpool on June 21. Sidibe’s existing deal is up on June 30, however, so he’d be due to return to Monaco in a matter of weeks.

The Ligue 1 outfit have no obligation to accept Everton’s proposal, but they’re looking to sell Sidibe this summer so it makes sense for them to cooperate if it puts him in the shop window.

The 27-year-old joined on a season-long loan back in August 2019 and has gone on to make 24 appearances in all competitions, making five assists. Sidibe has struggled for consistency, but he’s been a regular throughout the campaign so Everton need him for their remaining nine games.

Monaco’s season is over after the Ligue 1 ended early, so they have no need to bring Sidibe back this summer. The right-back has a £12.8m buying option, but Everton are in two minds over paying it.
