Report: Everton target £16.2m-rated defender who top European manager called an ‘amazing player’

Everton are reportedly keeping an eye on PSG right-back Colin Dagba with the Toffees seemingly keen on making a move for the defender in the January transfer window.

As reported by Paris United, Marco Silva’s side are interested in bolstering their right-back options with Seamus Coleman degrading in quality and summer signing Djibril Sidibe yet to really impress for Everton this season, and Dabga could be an answer to this problem.

Despite Dagba signing a new five-year deal with PSG in last season, the report from France seemingly indicates that the 21-year-old could still make a move away from the Ligue 1 giants if a sizable offer comes in for the fullback.

Yet with the France U-21 international having a Transfermarkt valuation of £16.2m, it would seemingly be a big offer Everton would have to cough up in order to sign the talented defender, who has been impressive for PSG in recent seasons.

As numbers from Transfermarkt show, the youngster has already made 26 first-team appearances for PSG over the past two seasons, and Dagba is also a player who is highly favoured by manager Thomas Tuchel, with the former Borussia Dortmund praising the defender via L’Equipe.

The Ligue 1 boss said: “I like Colin Dagba. He’s an amazing player, he is reliable, and he does things well in training each day at the same level. He is a top substitute, and he has a good mentality.”

Although trying to prize a youngster from a club as big as PSG on paper seems like an arduous task, signing Dagba could be easier than first thought given the French giants’ record with selling homegrown talent.

As records from Transfermarkt show, PSG have sold an abundance of talented youngsters developed straight from the academy to clubs all over Europe in recent seasons, with last summer alone seeing the likes of Christopher Nkunku and Moussa Diaby depart the French capital.
