According to the Guardian, Oumar Niasse is ‘expected to be released’ this summer, but he may be retained until the end of the extended season due to Everton’s ‘growing injury list’.

The 30-year-old has looked on his way out of Goodison Park as his contract is up in June and he’s been on the periphery of the first-team for a long time, but Carlo Ancelotti might have to keep Niasse for an extra month or two as cover.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

The Guardian reiterate that Everton have to make a decision on the striker’s future by June 23 – they can either extend his deal until the end of the revised campaign, extended his deal beyond 2020 or release him.

With Cenk Tosun sidelined with injury, Moise Kean having fallen out of favour and falling foul of lockdown regulations amid the Covid-19 pandemic, Niasse may have an opportunity to get himself back in the squad for some of their remaining nine league games. Time will tell.

The Senegalese international has made 42 appearances in all competitions since joining Everton from Lokomotiv Moscow in 2016, scoring nine goals and making four assists. Niasse has amassed only 19 minutes of first-team football since April 2019, so the best he can likely hope for is a place on the bench.
