According to L’Equipe via Sport Witness, Everton are still interested in Morgan Sanson and have a good chance of landing his signature as Olympique Marseille need to cash in due to their financial problems.

Sanson has impressed for the Ligue 1 outfit this season, attracting interest from Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers among others, so a bidding war could commence.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

The 25-year-old joined Marseille in January 2017 and has gone on to make 138 appearances in all competitions. Sanson has been a regular for OM this season, featuring in 30 games across the board and having a hand in 10 goals.

As per WhoScored, he’s created 31 chances, completed 86% of his 816 passes, won 14 aerial duels (27.4%), made 40 successful dribbles (62.5%), had 39 shots with 30.7% hitting the target, blocked 42 passes/crosses/shots, whipped in 64 crosses with 15.6% finding a teammate, won 52 free-kicks, gave away 56 fouls and averaged a tackle (60) or interception (23) every 26 minutes.

Everton aren’t short of midfielders with Andre Gomes, Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Fabian Delph, Morgan Schneiderlin, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Tom Davies at their disposal, but Carlo Ancelotti seems very keen to add to his engine room this summer. Sport Witness say Sanson may cost in excess of €40m (£35.1m) as previous bids worth a similar figure have been turned down.

The Toffees have been linked with Sassuolo’s Davide Frattesi, Valencia’s Geoffrey Kondogbia, Napoli’s Fabian Ruiz, Feyenoord’s Orkun Kokcu, Inter Milan’s Matias Vecino, Aston Villa’s John McGinn and Napoli’s Allan among others, so a new face is expected through the doors in the coming months.

L’Equipe say Marseille need the money so Sanson is now a more attainable player.
