Everton are set to release fringe players Oumar Niasse, Cuco Martina, Maarten Stekelenburg in next year’s summer transfer window when their contracts expire.

As reported by The Liverpool Echo, the Toffees trio are expected to depart Goodison Park when all three of their deals at the club come to an end in the summer of 2020, with club icon Leighton Baines also likely to join that group with his contract also running out next year and his chances of first-team football being severally limited.

With the three Everton players all earning a combined weekly wage of £120,000 as figures from Spotrac show, Marco Silva and his transfer committee will seemingly be making the right decision allowing the fringe trio depart the club.

As well as the financial reasons, each player is yet to make a mark on the Everton team in the past few years.

Stekelenburg has only played five games for Everton in the past three seasons as stats from Transfermarkt show and Martina and Niasse both played football out on loan last year at the likes of Feyenoord and Cardiff City respectively.

As well as playing away from Goodison last season, the two outfield players were both omitted from this season’s Everton club photo for the 2019/20 campaign, with Martina and Niasse to obvious absentees from the image.

With Everton taking a different approach to player recruitment following the appointment of Marcel Brands last year, it felt obvious that these three Everton players were going to leave sooner rather than later, and with their contracts running up this season, now is the time for the trio to take the next step in their footballing careers.
