Report: Everton ‘seem to like’ defender, 34 y/o ‘on starters list’ as he’s ‘disappointed’ coach

According to Calciomercato via Inter Live, Everton ‘seem to like’ Diego Godin and may have to battle Manchester United to procure his signature this summer. Calciomercato say the 34-year-old is ‘on the starters list’ at Inter Milan as he’s ‘disappointed’ Antonio Conte, so a move from San Siro could be on the cards.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

After loaning out Matthew Pennington to Hull City while releasing Phil Jagielka and Ashley Williams after their contracts expired last summer, Everton left themselves without only Michael Keane, Yerry Mina and Mason Holgate at centre-back this season – Lewis Gibson is on the periphery due to his inexperience and because he’ll be loaned out again in the coming months.

John Stones, Gian Marco Ferrari, Jean-Clair Todibo, Gabriel Magalhaes, Marash Kumbulla and Kristoffer Ajer are reportedly on Everton’s radar, but Godin is the latest name on their wishlist. The 34-year-old joined Inter on a free transfer from Atletico Madrid last summer and has gone on to make 25 appearances in all competitions.

Godin has been an unused substitute eight times in Serie A by Conte, so his future may be uncertain. Whether he’s open to joining Everton one year into his three year deal at Inter remains to be seen, however.
