Report: Everton scouting highly-rated Marseille youngster, future uncertain this summer

|

According to La Provence (h/t Sport Witness), Everton are scouting Isaac Lihadji and could battle Manchester United and Barcelona for his signature. The 17-year-old has an uncertain future at Olympique Marseille and may not sign a professional contract if he isn’t given assurances over playing time in 2019/20.

As per Transfermarkt, Lihadji has yet to make a first-team appearance for L’OM, but he’s been given minutes in pre-season and could make his senior debut in the upcoming campaign. The Marseille-born wide-man has also represented France on four occasions at u17 level and clearly has a bright future under the right guidance.

It’s worth noting that Lihadji is keen to stay at the Stade Vélodrome, however. The teenager isn’t clamouring to leave Marseille this summer and would only leave if Andre Villas-Boas fails to give him first-team opportunities. Transfermarkt say Lihadji is in the final year of his youth deal, but whether Everton can capitalise on the situation remains to be seen.

The Toffees are on the hunt for a left-footed right-winger, but Lihadji is too young to make an impact in the first-team if he did sign for Everton.
