According to Wayne Veysey of the Football Insider, Everton rejected a bid from Borussia Dortmund for Anthony Gordon over the summer. The 18-year-old has impressed at youth level for Everton & England and was rewarded with a four-year deal in March. Gordon’s form attracted interest from Dortmund, but the Bundesliga outfit were rebuffed in their efforts.
The young forward has made one appearance for Everton – coming off the bench against Apollon Limassol (Europa League) on December 7, 2017 – but he’s reduced to u23 outings ever since. Gordon has made three Premier League 2 appearances this season, scoring five goals, according to the official club website.
Everton clearly rate him highly, but Gordon has been short of opportunities under Marco Silva. With Richarlison, Moise Kean, Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert-Lewin for competition in the first-team, the teenager has been low down the pecking order. It’s been nearly two years since his last appearance, but whether he’ll be given a chance in 2019/20 remains to be seen.
The Blues are currently sixth in the Premier League with seven points from four games, having won two of their last three.
