Report: Everton ‘plotting move’ for 23-year-old Lyon man, club ‘compiling scouting dossier’

|

According to Wayne Veysey of the Football Insider, Everton are ‘plotting a move’ for Moussa Dembele in January after ‘compiling a scouting dossier’ on the Olympique Lyonnais striker. Dembele won’t come cheap, however, with Lyon wanting £40m for his signature.

The 23-year-old has shone for the Ligue 1 side since his 2018-move from Celtic, scoring and creating 32 goals in 56 games in all competitions. He’s netted six goals in eight league games this season too, attracting interest from Everton in the process.

Football Insider say the Toffees have been watching Dembele over the course of the season and could make an approach when the winter transfer window opens. Marco Silva’s men have started the campaign poorly and have struggled for goals, so their pursuit of Dembele could add much-needed firepower to the squad.

Everton are currently 18th in the Premier League table with seven points from eight games, having scored just six goals this season. New-boy Moise Kean is yet to get off the mark while the likes of Cenk Tosun, Alex Iwobi, Theo Walcott and Bernard have netted only two goals between them.

Dembele was prolific at Celtic (94 games, 51 goals, 18 assists) and has been at Lyon, so he might be a good option if Everton are willing to pay £40 in January.
