According to France Football, Everton ‘plan to recruit’ Allan this summer and Napoli ‘could let the player go’ for €40m (£35m). Carlo Ancelotti managed the 29-year-old during his short-lived stint in Naples and is keen for the pair to renew acquaintances next season.

France Football also say Allan would be more attainable if Everton signed Hirving Lozano too.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

The Toffees have Andre Gomes, Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Fabian Delph, Morgan Schneiderlin, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Tom Davies at their disposal in midfield but are still looking to bolster their options in the engine room.

In addition to Allan, Everton have been linked with Valencia’s Geoffrey Kondogbia, Olympique Marseille’s Morgan Sanson, Aston Villa’s John McGinn, Inter Milan’s Matias Vecino, Fenerbahce’s Ozan Tufan, Napoli’s Fabian Ruiz, Lazio’s Luis Alberto, OGC Nice’s Wylan Cyprien and Sassuolo’s Davide Frattesi among others.

Under Marcel Brands, Everton’s transfer policy has shifted to signing younger talent and offloading ageing deadwood, so it’s somewhat surprising Allan is on their radar. The Brazilian international made 61 appearances under Ancelotti between 2018 and 2020, but he’ll have little resale value and may be approaching his peak.

Allan has made a total of 203 appearances since joining Napoli from Udinese in 2015, scoring 10 goals and making 16 assists. As for Lozano, the 24-year-old is on Everton’s radar, but it remains to be seen if they’d sign both players in one transfer window.
