According to sports journalist Nicolo Schira, Everton have ‘offered a four-year contract’ to James Rodriguez. The 28-year-old is ‘Carlo Ancelotti’s first choice’, but they still need to agree a fee with Real Madrid and hope James is happy with the terms offered.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

With Gylfi Sigurdsson being linked with a move away from Everton this summer, the Toffees are on the hunt for a new attacking-midfielder to operate between the lines. Everton have Jack Grealish, Philippe Coutinho and Jesse Lingard on their radar, but James is the one they want the move.

The Colombian international has spent six years at Real Madrid and has made 124 appearances in all competitions, scoring 37 goals and making 42 assists. James recently returned from a loan spell at Bayern Munich (July 12, 2017 – June 30, 2019), where he made 67 appearances and had a hand in 35 goals.

Since he’s returned to the Santiago Bernabeu, the 28-year-old has made 13 appearances across the board, scoring one goal and making two assists. He amassed only 650 minutes of football and didn’t feature in La Liga after mid-October.

James suffered a serious knee injury which kept him out until January but was reduced to being an unused substitute in the last three months of the campaign. The Real outcast might be open to rejoining Ancelotti at Everton if it means he’ll get first-team football, but a move to Goodison is a step down.

Real and Bayern are title-chasers who are used to winning trophies, while Everton’s last league crown came in 1986/87 (First Division) and their last major trophy win came in 1994/95 (FA Cup).
