Report: Everton may have to pay more than €70m to beat PL rivals to 21 y/o’s signature

According to Le Quotidien Du Foot, Everton are interested in Jonathan Ikone and may have to battle Manchester United and Sevilla to procure his signature. The 21-year-old has been in fine form for LOSC Lille since the turn of the year, but his future at the Stade Pierre Mauroy looks uncertain.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

Le Quotidien Du Foot say Ikone could be on his way out this summer, but he won’t come cheap. Lille rejected a €70m (£62.2m) bid from Olympique Lyonnais for the French international last summer, as per L’Equipe via Get Football News France, so Everton may have to pay a substantial sum of money to bring Ikone to Goodison Park.

Carlo Ancelotti has Richarlison, Bernard, Alex Iwobi and Theo Walcott who can operate on the wing, but Walcott could be moving on in the coming months so there may be a void to fill next season. Whether Ikone is worth more than €70m remains to be seen, however.

As per WhoScored, the 21-year-old has made 28 Ligue 1 appearances, scored three goals, made six assists, created 31 chances, completed 78.2% of his 661 passes, whipped in 21 crosses with 19% accuracy, made 72 successful dribbles (60.5%), won nine aerial duels (34.6%), had 36 shots with 38.89% accuracy, blocked 26 shots/passes, won 26 free-kicks and made 15 tackles.

Ikone joined Lille from Paris Saint-Germain in 2018 and has gone on to make 77 appearances in all competitions, contributing 24 goals. His form at Lille has led to him representing the French national team, but Everton would have to smash their transfer record to sign him – Gylfi Sigurdsson is the club’s most-expensive player (£45m from Swansea City in 2017).
