Report: Everton may have to pay more than €40m and €3m-a-year to sign 27-year-old

According to Corriere Della Sera, Everton are interested in Luis Alberto and could make a move for the 27-year-old over the summer.

Alberto has been in fantastic form for SS Lazio this season, scoring and creating 19 goals in 30 appearances, and could be subject to bids from a number of clubs when the transfer window opens.

Last summer, the Spanish international was valued at €40m (£34.88m) and Corriere Della Sera say Alberto could be signing a new deal at Lazio worth €3m-a-year (£2.61m). Everton may have to move fast before his value goes up, as the midfielder has been outstanding in the Serie A.

Lazio currently sit top of the table with 62 points from 26 games and Alberto leads the assist charts with 12 for the season. No Serie A player has created as many chances as the 27-year-old (75) either, so it’s easy to see why Everton would be interested.

Alberto has made 53 successful dribbles, completed 85.4% of his 1474 passes, had 71 shots with 31% accuracy, made 34 tackles, whipped in 114 crosses with 28% accuracy and made 18 interceptions.

He’d be an upgrade on Gylfi Sigurdsson and may be a cheaper signing than the Icelandic international was, but time will tell if Everton make a move in the coming months.
