Report: Everton may have to pay a £5.3m bonus and £12.4m in wages to sign left-winger

Everton have been linked with a move for Yacine Brahimi and could sign the FC Porto winger on a free transfer when his contract expires in the coming weeks. The Toffees are one of many clubs interested in his signature, but Brahimi is requesting a lot of money before he’ll consider a switch.

According to Daily Mercato, the 29-year-old wants £12.4m in wages over the next three years and a £5.3m signing bonus. He’s coming off the back of an impressive campaign at Porto and is using his reputation to get the most from the contract negotiations.

Brahimi scored and created 22 goals in 49 games in all competitions last season – two of which came in the Champions League. The Algerian international will be coveted by many clubs as a result of his form, but he may not be in a big rush to secure a deal.

Daily Mercato believe the wide-man could use this summer’s Africa Cup of Nations to attract interest from more clubs. The tournament begins on June 21 and finishes on July 19, so his future may not be resolved until next month.

Whether Everton want to be strung along for weeks remains to be seen.
