Report: Everton ‘make sweet eyes’ at 19 y/o, Toffees ‘enquired’ about centre-back ‘this winter’

|

According to French outlet But! Football Club, Everton ‘make sweet eyes’ at Wesley Fofana and may have to battle Arsenal to procure his signature. The 19-year-old broke into AS Saint-Etienne’s first-team in 2018/19 and became a first-team regular in 2019/20.

Everton and AC Milan ‘enquired’ about Fofana ‘this winter’ – the centre-back even looked around Milan’s facilities. Nothing came of the interest in January, so Everton may take another stab at him when the summer transfer window opens, but But! Football Club say Fofana could stay at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard for another season.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

The 19-year-old has made 25 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals. He’s been a regular under Claude Puel and looks to have a bright future, so it’s easy to see why Everton are keen.

Fofana is happy playing under Puel and loves developing at St Etienne, however, so he’ll only come to England when he’s ready.

With Lewis Gibson expected to be loaned out next season, Everton are on the hunt for another centre-back to accompany Michael Keane, Yerry Mina and Mason Holgate.

Fofana is one of many players on their radar, but they may have some resistance convincing the teenager to make the switch.
