Report: Everton linked with teenager, club braced for offers, Marcel Brands will approve

|

According to Daily Mail, Everton are interested in Rafael Leao and could make a move this summer. The Blues are in the market for two strikers and the club Director of Football is looking to bring the average age down by signing more young talent. Marcel Brands will certainly approve of Everton scouting Leao, but there could be some resistance.

LOSC Lille have no intention of cashing in on the centre-forward – having agreed a five-year deal only seven months ago – but the report says they’re still braced for offers from suitors. Leao has contributed nine goals in 19 Ligue 1 appearances this season since joining on a free transfer from Sporting CP and could be a league runner-up if Lille hold onto second-place.

The French outfit finished only one place and one point above the relegation zone last season and now find themselves only behind Paris Saint-Germain in the table. They’ll be playing Champions League football in 2019/20 if they end up in the top-two which could be enough to keep Leao at the Stade Pierre Mauroy.

Amid interest from Barcelona, Manchester City, the teenager moved to Lille last year in order to get regular first-team football. He may not move on too quickly this summer as a result.
