Report: Everton keen on 24-year-old, Aston Villa offering £12m for centre-back

|

According to Dan King from The Sun, Everton are keen on Adam Webster and could battle Aston Villa and Newcastle United for the 24-year-old’s signature. Villa have been linked with a £12m bid for the centre-back and could pose a threat for Everton’s hopes of landing his signature.

Webster joined Bristol City from Ipswich Town in the summer of 2018 and has gone on to make 47 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals. the former England u19 international missed only two Championship games from 46 in his debut season at City and helped the Robins keep 12 clean sheets.

Everton are on the hunt for a central defender after Phil Jagielka was released, Kurt Zouma returned to Chelsea and Ashley Williams was released. Matthew Pennington could also be on his way out after struggling for first-team football, so the Toffees could be very short at the back next season.

Villa are in a similar predicament after Tommy Elphick was released while Tyrone Mings & Axel Tuanzebe returned to Bournemouth and Manchester United, so the two Premier League clubs could battle it out for Webster this summer.
