According to Football Insider, Everton have ‘submitted a new bid’ for Gabriel Magalhaes and plan to make the 22-year-old their ‘first summer signing’ after agreeing personal terms.

Football Insider say Everton are yet to agree a fee with LOSC Lille but have lodged a bid around the £20m mark. The Toffees offered Gabriel a five-year contract that has been provisionally accepted, but the price remains a stumbling block.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

Carlo Ancelotti is on the hunt for a centre-back to accompany Yerry Mina, Mason Holgate, Michael Keane and Lewis Gibson next season. Everton have been linked with Marash Kumbulla, Jean-Clair Todibo and Christian Luyindama, but Gabriel has been their No.1 target for some time.

The 22-year-old joined Lille for £2.7m from Avai FC in 2017 and has gone on to make 52 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals. Gabriel is now worth ten times what Lille paid for him three years ago, but Everton aren’t willing to match his £30m asking price.

Gabriel signed a long-term deal at the Stade Pierre Mauroy in February, so Lille hold all the cards when negotiating a fee, but Football Insider say the road has been paved for Everton to land their man.
