Report: Everton have 20 y/o ‘on agenda’ due to ‘close relationship’, club ‘trying to get’ €25m

According to Mundo Deportivo, Everton have Jean-Clair Todibo ‘on his agenda’ and are confident of being successful in their pursuit of the 20-year-old due to their ‘close relationship’ with Barcelona.

Todibo has an uncertain future at the Camp Nou after falling down the pecking order and being loaned out to Schalke 04. The Bundesliga outfit don’t want to trigger his buying option, however, so Barca are ‘trying to get’ €25m elsewhere.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

After loaning out Matthew Pennington and releasing Ashley Williams & Phil Jagielka last summer, Everton left themselves short at centre-back this season. The Toffees have Michael Keane, Mason Holgate, Lewis Gibson and Yerry Mina, but Gibson will be loaned out in 2020/21 so a replacement will be required.

Everton have been linked with Gabriel Magalhaes, Marash Kumbulla, Kristoffer Ajer, but Todibo also fits the bill in terms of what type of player they’re looking for. Under Marcel Brands, the Blues are targeting younger talent to replace ageing deadwood, so it’s not surprising that the 20-year-old is on their radar.

Todibo has made five appearances in all competitions for Barcelona since joining from Toulouse in January 2019. He was loaned out to Schalke in January 2020 and has made nine appearances across the board.
